Kathryn was born February 18, 1911 in Absaraka, North Dakota to Edward and Luella Ford. She graduated from Absaraka High School and attended Valley City State University. She completed her teacher training and taught for six years in a country school house.
She married Harold L. Hocking, also of Absaraka, on June 12, 1936. The couple moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1942 where Harold eventually became a conductor on the Union Pacific Railroad. She continued to live there following Harold's death in 1983, moving to Fremont, Nebraska to be near her son in January 2001.
Kathryn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hastings until the time of her death. She taught Sunday School there for many years and was always involved in the Presbyterian Women's Organization. She was an active supporter of Boy Scout Troop 200, helping many Eagle Scouts obtain their required merit badges. One of her most cherished accomplishments was her Honorary Life Membership in the Presbyterian Church of the USA. This honor was presented to her by the Presbyterian Women in recognition of her dedication to the church and its programs. Kathryn was a member and past officer of Presbyterian Circle 3, past president of the Railroad Paramount Lodge 873 Auxiliary, a charter member of the Harmony Homemakers Club of Hastings, and the Hastings YWCA.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Hastings at a later date with a private family committal at the Parkview Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in Fremont and the First Presbyterian Church in Hastings.

Grandchildren - Brenda and husband Douglas Keiser of Terre Haute, Indiana
Gregory and wife Betsy Hocking of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Great Grandchildren - Andrew, Evan and Allison Keiser
Elise, Adelaide and Clara Hocking
numerous nieces and nephews and many friends and relatives.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, her sister and four brothers.
Kathryn's grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy and meant "the world" to her!!.
