Gretchen was born January 10, 1923 in rural Dodge County to Albert and Anna 'Johnson' Christensen. She spent her early childhood in rural Dodge County before moving to the Plainview area in the mid 1930's. Gretchen moved to Mead and worked at the Mead Ordnance Plant from 1942 to 1944. She then moved back to Plainview and worked for Baber's Café. On April 29, 1949 she married Arthur Kieckhafer and they moved to California. The couple moved to Fremont in 1955 and she worked at Campbell's Soup until 1960. In 1961 Gretchen and Albert moved to Hooper. Gretchen worked as a custodian at Logan View High School from 1978 until 1987. She then worked for her daughter and son-in-law at the Main Street Diner in Hooper until 2007.

Blake Wagner.

Gretchen was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, and 9 brothers.

The funeral will be 2pm Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. The burial will follow in the Hooper Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Hooper Volunteer Fire Department. Visitation will be Sunday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm at the Hooper Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue 1 hour before the service at the church in Hooper.
