Larry G. Smith age 72; of Garrison, North Dakota formerly of Fremont
Died Thursday June 26 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, after losing his battle with cancer.
Larry was born April 6, 1942 in Rosalie, NE. to Floyd and Margie (Anderson) Smith. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1959. He attended University Nebraska Lincoln majoring in Agriculture and graduating in 1965. After graduation he worked for Farm Home Administration at O'Neill, NE. He taught Vocational Agriculture at high schools Nebraska and Iowa. He then moved to Oakes, N.D. working for N.D. State Department of Agriculture for Mediation Service. In 2005 he was transferred to western N.D. at Garrison. His love of the outdoors included hunting, fishing and raising a garden. He retired in 2012 to spend time fishing and traveling.
He is survived by sister Sherri Adams of Nickerson, brother Dudley (Shirley) Smith of Brenham, Texas;
son Trent (Amber) Smith of Alliance, daughters Wendy (Pat) Maae of Whitehouse, Texas; and Jodi
(Trent) Spady of Enders, NE. Six grandchildren-Torrie and Kamryne Maae; Cydney, Miranda and Damon
Spady and Genevive Smith. Nieces and nephews, Vicky ( Bill) Heir-leif, Dwight Adams, Dale Adams,
Amy Richardson, Troy Smith, Ryan Smith and Tessa Smith. Great nieces and nephews-Kayla, Alecia, Nathan,
William, Makayla, Sebastian, Gavin, Keeley, Laura, Marika, Tiana, Aaryn, Ysabelle, Madaline, Ryan, Jr. Also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by parents Floyd and Margie Smith, brother-in-law Dale Adams, and nephew Andy Adams.
A memorial service will be held in Garrison N.D. at later date.
The funeral will be Tuesday, 10:30 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Burial will follow in the Bancroft Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9am until the service at 10:30 also at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. A memorial will be determined at a later date.
