OnaLee M. Steffen, age 89, of Fremont,
died Saturday, February 22, 2014
in Merrick Manor, Fremont.
OnaLee was born June 13, 1924 in Richland, Nebraska to Frank and Lois (Patten) Gates. She grew up in Three Forks, Montana.
On January 30, 1946, OnoLee was married in Marysville, Kansas to Paul Steffen, Sr. During their married years, they have lived in Fremont, Nebraska, in California, and in Ohio. After retiring, the couple lived in Lake Havasu, Arizona for 5 years, and then moved back to Fremont. During her working years, OnoLee had worked for Brodkey's Jewelry Store in downtown Fremont.
She was a member of the VFW Post 854 Auxiliary of Fremont since 1973.
Survivors: husband – Paul Steffen, Sr.
daughter – Elaine and husband Steve Botos of Bennington
son – Paul Steffen, Jr. and wife Pamela of San Diego, California
4 grandchildren
3 great grandchildren
3 brothers – Jerry Fritz and wife Kathleen of Andover, Ohio
Donald Fritz and wife Sheila of Cameno Island, Washington
sister – Doris Wiseman of Benson Arizona
sister-in-law – Juanita Gates of Fremont
A brother, Gail, had preceded her in death;
The memorial service will be at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel at 1 PM Wednesday with the Rev. Ron Battiato. The committal will be in Memorial Cemetery. There is no public viewing. The family will direct memorials.
