Harry was born on September 23, 1922 on a farm near Columbus, Nebraska to Harry and Marie (Nielsen) Sanders Sr. He spent his early years around Silver Creek, NE, and graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1942.

He enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the WW II years of 1942 to 1945. His first job following the military service was working for the Union Pacific Railroad in Ogden, Utah. Then he began a 61 year career in auctioneering by attending auctioneers school in Denver.

On March 25, 1950, Harry was married in Ithaca, Nebraska to Ruth May Hageman and they made their home in Fremont. Harry combined his auctioneering with real estate and conducted many and varied types of auctions in Fremont and the surrounding area. His wife assisted him for many years. He received his real estate license in 1948. Harry also worked for the Fremont Farmers Union for many years.

Harry was a member of the Evangelical Free Church. He was also a member of both the National and Nebraska Association of Auctioneers.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in December of 1988, and by 2 brothers, Jack and Don, and his parents, Harry Sr. and Marie.

2 grandsons - Phillip and wife Wendy Sanders of Topeka
Dr. William and wife Carrisa Sanders of Tooele, Utah
1 great granddaughter - Metabel Sanders of Tooele
brother - William and wife Darlene Sanders of Verona, Missouri
sister - Marilyn and husband Ron Nyberg of Yankton, So. Dakota
sister-in-law - Norma Sanders of Holdrege
5 nephews and 7 nieces, and several cousins

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday (May 8, 2012) in the Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Chad Knudson. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854. Memorials are suggested to his church and to the donor's choice.

Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Monday (May 7th) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM.
