Eunice was born January 25, 1920 on a farm north of Uehling near Oakland, Nebraska. Her parents were William and Lizzie (Hermann) Wiechman. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church in West Point. When she
was 7 years of age, she moved with her parents to a farm east of Uehling and attended South Argo School, graduating from the 8th grade there.
Her parents went to dances in the area, often taking Eunice with them. At one of the dances, Eunice met Charles Erickson, and at the age of 14, she began dating Charles. When she was 18, Charles gave her a diamond and they were married on September 25, 1938 in the Elim Lutheran Church of Swaburg. They lived on the same farm for 64 years. Charles completely remodeled their farm home, working on it for several years. Eunice raised 500 setting hens during their first year of marriage, and sold hatching eggs for many years at the Oakland Hatchery.
Eunice was also a nurses aid in West Point and Blair. She taught Sunday School for preschool children for many years. She was also a 4-H Leader. For 15 years, she was a Recovery Leader for people recovering from a nervous breakdown. She and Charles were sponsors of a youth group, and in 1958 they adopted their daughter and named her Rebecca. She and Charles belonged to 4 Square Dance Clubs and were active in them for over 40 years. She made her own square dancing dresses and Charles' matching shirts. She also entertained as a clown at fairs and parades. She belonged to the Ladies Aid and the Wo-He-Lo Club. The couple traveled in all the United States. After caring for her mother in their home for 7 years, they traveled to 8 different countries in Europe, and later to China (where Charles walked the Great Wall), Japan, Thailand, and Singapore.
Following her husbands death in December of 2002, Eunice remained on the farm with her golden retriever dog, Herby. When she had to leave the farm, she moved into the Elkhorn Valley Villas in Scribner before entering the Good Samaritan Center.

The funeral service will be 2 PM Saturday (Oct. 19, 2013) in Uehling in the First Congregational Church, UCC, with Pastor Larry Jirsak. The committal will follow in the Swaburg Baptist Cemetery south of Uehling. Visitation will be in Scribner at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel today (Friday Oct. 18th) from 3 to 8 PM.
