Leroy was born August 7, 1924 in Snyder to Lawrence and Theresia 'Wordekemper' Kreikemeier. He was raised in Snyder and graduated from Snyder High School. After high school Leroy farmed until he married Arlitha Dirkschneider on February 5, 1947. The couple farmed 2 miles north of Snyder. Arlitha passed away in May of 1959 and Leroy continued to farm until 1967 when he and his children moved into Snyder. While in Snyder Leroy worked for various companies and his last job was for Smeal Transfer.
On August 18, 1993 Leroy married Elinor 'Batenhorst' Baumert in Scribner. The couple resided in Scribner enjoying many different activities. Leroy and Elinor loved to travel taking bus trips all over the country. They enjoyed dancing especially at the club in West Point. They ate every Saturday night at the Scribner Steak House and Sunday at the Office in Hooper. Leroy was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner and golfed in the senior leagues at Elkhorn Valley Golf Course in Hooper. He also enjoyed his coffee time at Mel's Bar in Scribner.

Along with his first wife Leroy was preceded in death by a son Duane, daughter Diane, a grandchild and a great grandchild.
The funeral mass will be 10am Wednesday May 30 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner. The Rev. Damien Wee and Deacon Jr. Pribnow will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery in Snyder. Memorials are suggested to St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the Scribner Volunteer Fire or Rescue Departments. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3pm to 7pm with a Wake Service at 7pm. Family will receive friends from 6pm to 7pm all at the church. Visitation will continue 1 hour before the service also at the church.
