Ashley was born April 13, 1999 in Cambridge, Minnesota to Troy and Brenda 'Hanson' Winkels. She was raised in Minnesota until the age of 7, she then moved to Fremont. She attended Linden and Milliken Park Elementary Schools, Fremont Middle School and Johnson Crossing. Ashley was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disorder which is a form of Muscular Dystrophy when she was 4 years old. She refused to let the disease affect her life. She loved music, horses and crafts.

Ashley was preceded in death by a grandmother Esther Winkels.
The funeral will be 10:00am Tuesday May 28 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. The committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery. A memorial fund will be determined at a later date. Visitation will be Monday with family from 4pm to 7pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel.
