Ruby was born July 30, 1915 in Dodge County to Andrew and Mary 'Appel' Mortensen. She was raised on her family's farm and worked with her parents until she married Leonard Kirchmann. They were married on September 1, 1949 in North Bend. They moved to Saunders County were they farmed until moving back to her family's farm southwest of Hooper in 1966. She remained on the farm until recently, moving to the Scribner Good Samaritan Center.
Ruby was a dedicated housewife, mother and grandmother. She worked hard and she enjoyed living on the farm and all that it had to offer. She loved to garden and to raise livestock, chickens and other animals. She also enjoyed her cats.

Grandson - Jeff Kirchmann and fiancé Elisha Lenhart of Winside
Great Granddaughter - Madelyn
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 1981 and a brother.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. Private graveside services will be held at the Hooper Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Scribner Good Samaritan Center.
