Kenneth was born January 3, 1921 in Logan, Iowa to Fred and Margaret (Plumbeck) Clausen. He grew up on the farm near Logan and graduated from Logan High School. Following his graduation, he went to Chicago where he worked in construction building smokestacks. He enlisted in the United States Army in October of 1944, serving until November of 1946. Then in June of 1949 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving until June of 1957.
On July 25, 1950, Kenneth was married in Lincoln to Marie Husak. As he was still in the Air Force, they lived for a time in Omaha, then Mead, and then he was stationed in Alaska before being stationed in Duluth, Minnesota. They lived in Wahoo before moving to Fremont in 1954. During most of his civilian working years, he was employed in the automotive department of J.C. Penneys in Fremont as a mechanic. Following his retirement from Penneys, he was a custodian for the school system in Valley for nearly 20 years.
At one time, Kenneth had been a dance instructor for the Arthur Murray Dance Studios. He was a big fan of his children's sports activities. He had been a boy scout leader, enjoyed fishing, was interested in cars and flying (at one time owned his own plane and was an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force) and he always had a dog.
Kenneth was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18 of Fremont.

Kenneth was preceded in death by 2 sons (Joel on April 14, 1997 and Kenneth 'Jim' on Febr. 5, 2011), brother Melvin 'Bud', and an infant daughter Margaret.
The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday (June 8, 2012) at the First Lutheran Church (3200 E. Military) with the Rev. Charlie Axness. The committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Military Honors will be rendered by the Fremont Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 18 and VFW Post 854. Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18, and to the Children's Ministry of First Lutheran Church.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Thursday (June 7th) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family present from 6 to 8 PM. The casket will be closed at the church.
