Betty was born July 28, 1929 in Fremont to Burtis and Helen 'Higby' Arie. She was raised in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School. Betty married John Kennec on June 20, 1948 in Fremont. She was a lifelong resident of Fremont taking care of the family while John worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. Betty was a very active member of Sinai Lutheran Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband John in July of 2008, Sister Marjorie Hosch, and Brother Richard Arie.
The funeral will be 2pm Friday at Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Al Duminy will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3pm to 8pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel.
