Hope was born October 9, 1920 in Bethany, Nebraska to Charles and Jennie (Westerlin) Carlstrom. Her early childhood years were spent in Lincoln, then she came to Fremont with her parents where she completed her education, graduating from Fremont High School. She worked briefly in a bomb casing factory before her marriage.
On January 9, 1946, Hope was married in Scribner to Elmer Hass who was serving in the United States Navy. While he completed his service, she lived on Staten Island (New York). Upon his discharge, they came to Fremont where Elmer eventually became one of Hormel's first employees, after helping build the plant. Hope was a homemaker, raising their two children.
Hope was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Jessie Benton Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. She had been active in an archery league of the Izaak Walton League. She also enjoyed bowling and playing golf. She had been inducted into the Fremont Bowling Hall of Fame. She was an avid Conrhusker Football fan. And she had been a den mother for the Boy Scouts and a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader.
Her husband Elmer preceded her in death on November 7, 2009. Also preceding her were 3 brothers, Harold, Francis, and Roy Carlstrom.

son- Roger and wife Sue Hass of Fort Collins, Colorado

brother - John and wife Marilyn Carlstrom of Fremont
also several nieces and nephews
The funeral service will be 10:30 Monday morning (June 25th) in the Chapel of Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. The committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Sunday from 2 to 7 PM with the family present from 4 to 7 PM.
