Jack was born October 25, 1925 in Fremont to Oscar and Bertha (Fretwell) Emmons. After graduating from Fremont High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943. On August 10, 1947, Jack was married to Betty Widman.
He attended Midland College, Colorado State College, and UCLA, and taught in various public schools including Snyder, Arlington, and Inman in Nebraska, later teaching in Santa Ana, California. He received his doctorate from UCLA, and became Chief Planner for the California State Universities. After retirement, he and his wife returned to Fremont. Jack was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont.
Survivors include his wife Betty and 3 sons, David (and wife Denise) Emmons of Reno, Nevada; Steven (and wife Christine) Emmons of Laguna Niguel, California; and Randall (and wife Kathy) Emmons of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Harold and a sister Florence Booth.
The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Thursday (June 28, 2012) at Peace Lutheran Church, 2102 N. County Road 26, (Hwy 30, east of the bypass at county road 26). Rev. Gib Botten will officiate. There is no visitation at the mortuary, however friends may sign the guest register at the Ludvigsen Mortuary on Wednesday until 5 PM. The committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church or the Dodge County Humane Society.
