Irene was born October 3, 1923 on the family farm near Scribner to Ferdinand and Anna 'Pfenning' Helgenberger. She was raised in Scribner and attended district 24 and Scribner High School. She spent her working years at the Scribner Hatchery, Shorts Restaurant and Dahl's Steakhouse, and was a life long resident of Scribner until moving to Fremont to be near her family.
Irene was a past recipient of the "Employee of the Year" award given at the annual Scribner Chamber Banquet. She had been a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church while living in Scribner and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church while in Fremont.
On September 18, 1941 Irene married Otis Robart. He preceded her in death along with her brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be 2pm Tuesday July 3 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Make A Wish Foundation, Dodge County Humane Society or St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Monday 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue 1 hour before the service at the church.
