Marilynn was born December 5, 1923 in Genoa, Nebraska to Alex and Senie (Christensen) Rood. She lived her childhood in Columbus, Nebraska and graduated from Kramer High School in 1941. She had worked as a secretary in Columbus, in Chicago, in Fremont, and she was a secretary for the Council Bluffs Police Dept. retiring after 16 years there.
Marilynn Rood was married on January 8, 1946 to Gene Zimmerman. Following his retirement from the Union Pacific Railroad at the end of 1983, the couple lived in the Woodcliff community south of Fremont for several years until moving into Fremont. Marilynn and Gene had just moved a week ago, to a retirement community in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Marilynn was preceded in death by a son Kent in Sept. of 2008, by brothers John and Russell Rood, and a sister Vivian Duncan.

daughter-in-law - Judy Zimmerman of Kansas City, Missouri

brother - Warren Rood of Columbus, NE
There will be a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church in Fremont on Wednesday (July 18th) at 11 AM with the Rev. Michael McGregor and Rev. Greg Hall officiating. There will be a private committal in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church and to the Keene Memorial Library. There will be visitation with the family at the Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
