John was born August 16, 1912 to Ernest and Ida 'Rabe' Wegner at Wisner, Nebraska. He was baptized October 12, 1912 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wisner and confirmed May 16, 1926 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He attended Wisner Schools through the 8th Grade. He married Ivalo Broekemeier on March 31, 1938 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Howells. John was a farmer in Cuming County. After his retirement the couple moved to Fremont in 1978. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.

Grandson – Monte and wife Debbi Wegner of Bellvue, Colorado
Granddaughter – June and husband Kevin Morris of Weatherford, Texas
Great grandchildren – Katelin and Garrett Morris of Weatherford, TX.
Lisa and husband Eric Eimen of Algonquin, IL.
Great great grandchildren – Paige, Davis and Hadyn Eimen of Algonquin, IL.
Sister – Iona Rabbass of Norfolk
John was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
The funeral will be Monday, October 20 at 10:30am in the Chapel at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2pm to 6pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.
