Howard was born August 6, 1907 on the farm near Arlington in the Telbasta area. His parents were Gustoff and Louise (Borcherding) Meierhenry. He grew up there and attended high school in Arlington. He farmed that same farm with his father for many years, until his parents moved into Fremont. Then Howard and his wife, the former Opal Hansen, whom he married on June 17, 1934 in Telbasta, continued farming the family farm.
In December of 1959, Howard and Opal moved into Fremont and Opal then worked for JC Penney's for 17 years. Howard went to work as a custodian for the new Fremont Senior High School as soon as it opened on Lincoln street and was there for 19 years. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling, especially to San Francisco where one of their sons lived. They were very supportive of high school activities and enjoyed many of the plays and musicals.
