Elaine was born October 16, 1926 in Swaburg, NE to George P, and Clara (Tunberg) Johnson. She grew up in the Hooper/Swaburg area, and graduated from Fremont High School in 1945.
On Febr. 12, 1950, Elaine was married to Richard G. Arie in Fremont. Fremont was their home all their married years. Richard was a railroader and Elaine worked for Woolworth's 5 & 10 in downtown Fremont for a number of years, before working briefly for Pendleton here, then returning to Woolworth's until retiring.
Elaine was a member of Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 20 in Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in December of 1996, also by an infant son, by 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

son - Lloyd Arie of Fremont
3 sisters-in-law - Betty Kennec, Roberta Johnson, and Cleda Wright
The funeral service will be 2 PM Thursday (July 30, 2009) in Sinai Lutheran Church, Fremont, with the Rev. Michael Ostrom officiating. The committal will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Sinai Lutheran Church and the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Wednesday from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. Visitation continues at the church on Thursday for an hour before the service.
