Velma was born May 10, 1912 in Knox County, Nebraska. He parents were Justus and Etolia Lessor. She grew up in Knox Co. and graduated from high school in Niobrara.

She was married in Niobrara to Harold D. Olson on June 27, 1936. They lived in Winnebago for a time where Harold taught school, before they moved to Fremont. Harold became a long time district representative for Lutheran Brotherhood, and Velma was a receptionist in Fremont for several years for Dr. Engels, an orthodontist.

Velma was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fremont and her church circle, and she was a member of Arbor Vitae Chapter 92 Order of Eastern Star.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harold, on June 18, 1999, and by her parents Justus and Etolia Lessor, a brother Norman Lessor and sister LaVera Wick.

Survivors: 2 sons - Leon and wife Elizabeth Olson of Santa Barbara, California
Larry and wife Linda Olson of Eden Prairie, Minnesota
4 grandchildren - Eric and wife Rebecca Olson, Jennifer and husband Mark Ingalls, Molly and
husband Andrew Lack, and Kerry Olson.
2 great grandchildren - Elle and Tucker Ingalls

The funeral service will be 2 PM Wednesday (Sept. 16th) at Salem Lutheran Church, Fremont, with the committal to follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to her church (401 East Military Street, Fremont, NE. 68025)

Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Tuesday from 2 to 8 PM, and at the church on Wednesday for an hour before the service.
