He was born November 23, 1927 in Snyder, Nebraska to Herman and Matilda (Kroenke) Klintworth. He was baptized on January 15, 1928 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Snyder, and attended St. Peter's elementary school, and graduating from Snyder High School in 1945.
After high school, he joined his father's custom farming operation until he entered the United States Army in the fall of 1950. He proudly served his country, receiving the Occupation Medal (Japan), United Nations Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, and was honorably discharged in the spring of 1952. After his military service, he joined Hormel Food Corporation, retiring in 1984.
He traveled extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Europe. He was an avid antique collector and dealer, a passion he pursued for more than 50 years. His love for Nebraska football also spanned more than 50 years, missing only a hand full of home games and traveling to many away games. He loved reminiscing and telling stories with his family about growing up in Snyder during the depression. He was a lifetime member of Missouri Synod Lutheran Churches: St. Peter's Lutheran in Snyder and Trinity Lutheran in Fremont.

Lando was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mrs. Anton (Orean) Kanger and Mrs. William (Alvera) Andresen, brothers Laverne and Willard.
The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday (August 28, 2012) at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dan Heuer. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the Fremont Honor Guard (American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854). Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Monday (Aug. 27th) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. Visitation will be 1 hour before services at the church on Monday.
