Dorthey was born March 11, 1937 in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Her parents were Fred and Mildred (Dickeson) Snyder. She grew up in Thermopolis and in Oregon, then returned to Thermopolis.
She lived and worked in Las Vegas, Nevada several years. On March 3, 1974, Dorthey married Carl Jensen in Las Vegas. They moved to Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska in 1991 where they have been operating Jensen's Landing, a local restaurant.
The Jensen's are members of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs.

Dorthey was preceded in death by husband Hollis Bell, her parents, a brother, and a grandson.
There will be a memorial service 3 PM Thursday (Oct. 1st, 2009) at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs. The committal will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials are suggested to her church. There will be no public visitation.
