"Judy, Debbie, Jeff, Rick: It is not easy to write words that help in a time like this. Yet, words are all we have to show you that we feel your pain and share your loss. Gary was a good man. 'Hard-working' comes to mind when I think back to the times when I was around Gary the most. That time was when Gary and Judy lived in Randolph. I remember him driving a delivery truck and working with the bees. I also think of 'fun-loving' when I remember Gary. He liked a good joke and had a healthy laugh. I remember hunting was a big part of his life and I got to go pheasant hunting with him a few times. To a little guy like I was at that time, he was a giant, a big guy who also had a big heart. It always amazed me how such a big, strong, athletic man like Gary could be out hunting one minute, yet be just as content the next with a little dog on his lap watching television. But, that was Gary. Big and tall, could do it all. Yet, just as big-hearted and one who could love even the smallest things around him. Your husband, your dad ---Gary, was always, always good to me, so I have nothing but the best memories to keep with me. Gary would want us all to know he loved us. He certainly showed that to me in the times I was around him. I was at a Maunday-Thursday service at church last night and Gary was all I could think about. At that service Communion was served. Knowing Gary is now in the presence of those at that table gives me 'peace'. I hope it helps all of you to know that too. My belief is that those who journey on ahead of us will be there waiting to welcome us when we join them again. And, yes, we all will be together again. Just keep that thought in mind in the days ahead. And, keep Gary close to you now by your memories of times you shared with him. For Jeff and Rick, I want to offer this poem I wrote when my Dad passed away. And, Debbie, it is for you as well, for a daughter and father's relationship is also very special. Just try to keep the thought that this is not the ending of a life, but the beginning of a different journey that we travel separately now, but will result in a new reunion at a place where we will all be together again.
