Joel was born on February 2, 1952 to Willis C. and Ina (Benne)Wegner. He was raised in Scribner and graduated from Scribner High School in 1970, where he holds football records to this day. He lived in Scribner his whole life. In his life, he enjoyed playing softball, the outdoors; hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed following and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

He is Survived by:
Mother Ina of Fremont
Significant Other Dorothy Litz of Scribner
Brother Robert and wife Jane(Vonseggren) Wegner and their family of Omaha
Three daughters: Christy (Wegner)Neel and fiance David Lubker of West Point
and her family Wesley Neel and Dacee Hall
Joleen and Doug Schulzkump of West Point
and her family Sean, Brianna and Brooke Schulzkump
Jenni (Wegner)Burdick of Papillion
and her family Skylar and Alec Burdick
He is also survived by an aunt; Betty(Benne)Winther and her family.

He was proceeded in death by his father Willis in 1990; a brother Gail; an Uncle Don Winther,



A memorial visitation with family will be held on Thursday April 8 at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel from 4pm to 7pm. Following the visitation friends are invited to Mel's Bar. Memorials are suggested to the Scribner Volunteer Fire Department. Committal will be at a later date.

"Rum dumb, thats the first of many things you said to me. Damn I miss you Wags. We all had so many good times, heck you taught my son how to tie his shoes and you taught me how to do too many things to write here. I think of you and those that you left behind often, I hope the fish are biting, the turkeys gobbling, the pheasants flying and the deer fall where you can drive to em. Thank you for being my friend Wags.....your spirit lives on. My thoughts are with you all."
