"Although I haven't seen Leota for almost 60 years, she looks so familiar. I remember enjoying spending time at your house. I am so sorry you lost her, even if to a better home. She will always be close, right there in your heart."

"Virginia, Gary, Kim, Karl, Kirt & family, so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother & grandmother. She was a very beautiful person. I remember driving past her home in Hooper, and she was either on her porch enjoying the day or she was tending to her beautiful flowers. She was a great woman. My deepest sympathies are with you at this time."

"When I was attending Hooper High School (1944-1948) I would often be hired by Shorty and had the good pleasure of sitting at Leota's dinner table on many occasions. I was not only a friend of Leota's since 1944, but also close to Shorty...singing in a quartet with him at Immanuel Lutheran Church .... playing trumpet with he and several other guys in a little polka band that used to practice in the Telbasta Store .... Many memories .... Virginia, I want you to know that I sincerely share your grief ..... your mother was a real lady, and I will always remember her."
