Alice was born in Fremont on October 18, 1925 to Walter and Leona (Burt) Nelson. She grew up in Saunders County on the farm one mile east of the Pohocco Lutheran Church. Alice graduated from high school in Fremont and attended Midland College.

She taught in rural school district 33 for several years prior to her marriage. On September 3, 1948, Alice was married to Henry A. Johnson. They have lived all their married years (62) in Saunders County on the farm that had been her husband's grandparents farm.

Alice had worked at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant at Mead, she was a substitute teacher, and she had been the postmaster for the Mead Post Office for 28 years.

She was an active and involved lifetime member of the Pohocco Lutheran Church where she had been baptized and confirmed. She had been a 4-H Leader, active in the PTA, an extension club member, and involved in her communities activities.

granddaughter - Allison Brady
Alice was preceded in death by her sister Mildred Otte and brother Donn Nelson.

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday (Oct. 5th) at the Pohocco Lutheran Church (south of Fremont on Highway 77) with the Rev. Harold Schmidt officiating. The committal will be in the Pohoco Cemetery next to the church. Visitation will be on Monday (Oct. 4th) at the Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. Memorials may be directed to the family for distribution.
