He was born July 25, 1928 in Salem, Indiana to Harry and Minnie (Davis) Holstine. When he was 2 years of age, his family moved to Mound City, Missouri. He grew up there and graduated from high school there. He served in the United States Army from November of 1950 to August of 1952, seeing duty in Korea.
On his return from the service, Ralph attended and received his degree from the University of Nebraska. He lived in Lincoln, Fremont, Redwood Falls, Minnesota, and then returned to Fremont. During his working career, he was in the farm management department of Traveler's Insurance Co. and then he was an agricultural loan consultant for the Lauritzen Corporation, a bank holding company.
Ralph was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on many of the church committees. He was a member of the Fremont Masonic Lodge No. 15 A.F. & A.M., and the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District.
On June 20, 1953, Ralph was married to Velma Crockett and she preceded him in death on January 11, 1992. Then on April 23, 1993, Ralph was married to Rhoda Webster Pearson.

The funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday (Sept. 22nd) at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael McGregor and Rev. Greg Hall. There will be a family committal service later with Military Honors by the Fremont Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854 in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials suggested to the church or the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be Friday from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. There will be a Masonic Service, open to the public, Friday evening at 7:30 PM at the Mortuary.
