He was born to John and Nora (Booze) Keating in Fremont on Sept. 18, 1912, and grew up on the family farm in Saunders County near Cedar Bluffs. He attend school in Cedar Bluffs, later transferring to Fremont where he graduated from Fremont High School.
He began working for the H.P.Lau Co. in Fremont, and worked his way up in the company to be the manager of the Fremont location. He was with the company ( a wholesale grocery company) until the company was closed in 1963. Then he moved to Norfolk in 1963 where he worked for General Wholesale (now Affiliated Foods) as a grocery broker. He retired in 1977 and returned to Fremont. In his retirement years, he worked on the state level for the AARP.
He was married on October 28, 1933 to Dorothy Pollock and she preceded him in death on March 5, 1958. On February 11, 1961, Eugene was married to Ilo Clouse. Ilo preceded in death on June 25, 2007.
He was a member of The Presbyterian Church. In his earlier years he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Dept.

Daughter - Bonnie and husband Ben Desterhouse of Valley

Eugene was preceded in death by 2 wives and a sister.
The funeral will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday January 8, at The Presbyterian Church in Fremont. The Rev. Bill Bowers will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the church. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2pm to 8pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church.
