Dannie W. 'Dan' Backens, age 68, of Fremont
Died Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Methodist Fremont Health
Dan was born July 26, 1956 in Omaha and adopted by his parents Robert and Lorraine 'Sallstrom' Backens.
Dan attended Pine Ridge Trade School in Chadron, Nebraska studying general maintenance. He was employed by Mercy Medical Center in Durango, Colorado in the maintenance department. He was then employed by Platte Valley Foods in Wahoo in the maintenance department before working at Fremont Beef Company until 2008 in the maintenance department. Dan worked part time at Nifty 50's and Mac's café doing general maintenance.
He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Fremont.
Survivors:
Sister – Bonnie (Edward ) Kissell of Altoona, PA.
and her daughters Kristeen (Sam) Riddle and their children Blake and Brylee;
Deborah Kissell Tuttle and her son Hudson
Sister – Mary Moore of Omaha
Brother – Rich (Carol) Kolo of Omaha
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lorraine Backens, brother's Leo and Paul Lindgren and niece Stacey Lynn Kissell.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel from noon until 2pm. The funeral will be 2pm with Pastor John McQueen of Liberty Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the family.
