Doug was born April 8, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska to Stanley and Leah 'Herrmann' Nabb and grew up in Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and Nebraska. He attended Omaha North High School. Doug married Judy Linder. He then graduated from Midland Lutheran College (Now Midland University) and followed later with a Masters in Education from UNL. Doug then married Karen Krejci. He taught in the Fremont Public School (FPS) system, and also coached football and swimming. Doug married Louise McDonald in 1987. Doug retired after 31 years in 1999. He spent his retirement supporting the FPS as a lobbyist at the Nebraska Legislature. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling the world with his wife Louise, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
Survivors include his wife, Louise, Fremont; daughters, Tracy (Kevin) Beranek of Milford, Melinda (Bill) Baker of Ruskin, NE; Jennifer Nabb of Dallas, and Nicki (Jason) Alexander of Omaha; Brothers Dick (Sharon) Nabb of Brownsburg, IN; Ray (Chris) Nabb of Omaha. Grandchildren Regan, Rio, Aleah, and Kenny Beranek, Kayleigh (Trent) Whisler, Riley, and Dillon Baker, Finn Alexander; great grandchildren Elliot Whisler and Ty Baker.
The memorial service will be Monday at 11:00am at the First Congregational Church, UCC in Fremont. Pastor Larry Jirsak will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the First Congregational Church and to the Dodge County Humane Society. Visitation with family will be Sunday from 2pm to 5pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.
