Mike Kellner (aka the best man ever) of Fremont, NE, passed away at age 71 in the early morning hours of January 27 following a short battle with leukemia.
Mike grew up in Fremont, the son of Boyd ("Kelly") and Judy Kellner, and brother to Christie and Quinn. He had a happy childhood where he made several lifelong friends. In 1981, he married Laura Brinkman. They enjoyed 43 happy years of marriage. They had two daughters, Jessica and Beth, and three grandchildren, Julian Duft, Hailey DePue, and Leo DePue. Mike put his family before all else and devoted his life to providing love and support to his wife and children. He enjoyed working for the City of Fremont for more than 45 years, first at Ridge Cemetery and later at the Parks & Recreation Department. He was close with both of his parents and invested time and energy into caring for them as they aged. He was an avid reader, music lover, and motorcycle enthusiast. His intelligence, calm nature, and wry sense of humor will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
