Lila Launer, age 96, of Fremont
Died Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Shalimar Gardens in Fremont
Lila Fay Launer was born June 15, 1928 in Fremont to Harvey and Rosa 'Reker' Grubbs. The family lived in Webster, Nebraska until moving to Fremont in 1937. Lila graduated from Fremont High School in 1945. She worked at Northwestern Bell, Jacobs Floral and Vern's flowers. On April 7, 1957 Lila married Donald J. Launer. They lived on an acreage raising and training registered Quarter Horses. Lila was well known in the barrel racing and pole bending competitions. Both were amateur radio operators. After retiring they moved into Fremont.
Lila was a member of the First Christian Church until closing. She was a 50+ year member of the Arbor Vitae Chapter #92 Order of the Eastern Star in Fremont. She was also a member of the Prairie Piecemakers Quilt Guild and was name Distinguished Quilter in the area and featured Quilter at the Prairie Piece Makers Quilt Show in 2014.
Survivors:
Niece – Melody Voskamp and Nephew Arnold Grubbs both of Fremont
Great nieces and nephew – Tammy Trout, Marsha Puckett and Evan Hodgen
and other family.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don in 2019, brother Wilbur Grubbs, step-son Steven Launer Sr. and step-grandson Steven Launer Jr.
The funeral will be 10am, Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery.
