Shirley 'Sue' Joan Spitalnick age 88 of Hooper, formerly of Omaha passed away October 1, 2024 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont.

Sue was born October 26, 1935 to Joseph and Mable (Hill) Schueler in Omaha, Nebraska. She grew up in Florence, Nebraska. On April 26, 1957, Sue married James 'Jim' Spitalnick in Omaha, NE at Ames Avenue Methodist Church. In 1961, Sue and Jim bought their little house on Read Street in Omaha, NE. There they built a successful business, Northwest Florist and Nursery and Greenhouse that they had for over 50 years.

Sue was a talented Florist and taught her daughter, Sally, floral design as well. Sue and Jim were even invited to visit the White House in Washington D.C. with the Nebraska Florist Society in 1980. Sue loved working side by side with her husband Jim, daughter Sally and her grandchildren. There are many memories of Sue patiently teaching her daughter and grandchildren floral design, customer service, bookkeeping skills and so much more.

Sue was very active in the Council Bluffs Kennel Club where Sue and Jim showed their Shelties in obedience and agility. They loved taking road trips all over the United States throughout their marriage. They especially loved South Dakota and Iowa.

When Sue and Jim retired they decided to move to Hooper to be closer to their daughter, Sally, and grandchildren. Sue enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her great grandchildren loved snuggling with her in her chair and watching cartoons or reading books.

Sue was preceded in death by the love of her life of 64 years Jim in 2021.
