Beverly K. Meritt, age 74, of Fremont, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Nebraska Medical Center.
Beverly was born on May 7, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Kenneth and Ellen 'Loan' Krueger. She was raised in the Johnston, Iowa area and graduated from Johnston High School. She pursued her education at Drake University, where she graduated with a degree in education. Beverly had a long and fulfilling career in teaching, working in many different places.
Beverly married Dale Meritt on August 30, 1990, and they later moved to Fremont. Beverly was a kind and generous person who loved to quilt, do crafts and scrapbooking, and cook. She also had a deep love for animals. A devoted member of the Fremont Alliance Church, Beverly was actively involved in several church ministries. She helped prepare communion, regularly brought food to the local homeless shelter, led the women's afternoon monthly fellowship, and participated in Project Day whenever she was able.
Beverly stayed connected with her former students, taking joy in keeping up with their lives as they moved into adulthood. Her generosity and caring nature touched many lives.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Dale in 2008; her brothers Mike, Greg, and Randy Krueger; her sister Linda Krueger; her parents; and her nephew Cole Krueger.
She is survived by her nieces Ashley (Tony) Vachal and Angela Schmidt and her nephews Jordan (Alison) Krueger and Jeremy (Meredith) Krueger.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Fremont Alliance Church, with Pastor Brandon Banks officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Hubbell Cemetery in Rose Creek Township, Kansas.
