Marian R. Koester, age 83, of Scribner
Died Monday, July 15, 2024 at St. Joseph's Hillside Villa in West Point
Marian was born March 3, 1941 in Geneva, Nebraska. After years of being moved around from place to place, she came to settle with her forever family of Otto and Clara Weber in Scribner when she was 13 years old. Marian graduated from Scribner High School in 1959. After a brief adventure of moving to Wyoming with her best friend Sharon (Shultz) Johnson, working as a carhop and then working at Campbell's Soup in Fremont, she went back to Scribner. She married Vernon Koester on February 21, 1960. From then on she was a completely dedicated and hardworking housewife, farm hand, hog farmer and wonderful mother. She could and would, do everything that needed to be done on the farm, in the fields, with the hogs, and for the home. Of course, everything except 'combining' which was for Vernon's hands only.
Her hobbies were always making sure family, friends and farm hands were well fed and most of the time overfed. She also absolutely loved fishing every chance she could get. She would fish in a bucket for hours if that were the only option. She also had a wonderful time with the Scribner ladies on a bowling league in her younger years, and the trips to Norfolk to help with the Orphan Grain Train. She never said 'No' to the penny slots at the casinos with Alice and Cindy either.
Marian was a very loving, caring, funny and ornery woman who blessed the lives of all who knew her. She was most definitely a one of a kind lady and will be so greatly missed by many.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, daughters Donna and Diane Koester, brother Charles Weber, parents Walter and Ruth Weber, second parents Otto and Clara Weber, sister-in-law Darlene Koester Schwink, brothers-in-law Delwin Schwink and Norman Tonjes.
The funeral will be 10am, Friday, July 19, 2024 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner, the Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Scribner Volunteer Fire Department or Scribner Rescue. Visitation will be Thursday with the family present from 4pm to 8pm at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel.
