Virginia P. Rasmussen, age 97, of Fremont
Died January 17, 2024 at home.
Virginia Pearl Rasmussen, a second daughter, was born October 3, 1926 in Ogallala, Nebraska to Paul Robert John Sauer and Ruth Lorene Vickers. Because her father worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, she attended school in many places. She graduated from Beatrice High School in Beatrice, Nebraska.
On October 5, 1944 she married Jim Dickerson in Marysville, Kansas. To this union a daughter Leoda was born. The family later moved to Ogallala, then to Kimball, Nebraska where she worked at the City Office. After Leoda's husband joined the Fremont Police Department, Virginia moved to Fremont. Here, she worked at the City Office and Claasen Electronics.
Virginia married Carman LeRoy Rasmussen in Fremont on October 23, 1976. They lived on a farm north of Fremont until July 1990 when they moved into Fremont.
Virginia was a devoted wife and mother, she took extra good care of her mother. She enjoyed gardening, especially her tomatoes, working with flowers, her yard and just spending as much time outside as she could. After Carmen died she spent time volunteering at the library, the Fremont Chamber and FEVR Railroad.

Granddaughter – Shelia (Dan) Blackburn of Fremont
Grandson – Billy Joe Florence of Fremont
3 Great grandchildren - Tyler, Dillon and Demitri
6 Great Great grandchildren - Caiden, Landon, Bayleigh, Beau, Bentley and Carson.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Carmen, daughter Leoda Messick, sister Pauline Vass and grandson Randy Florence.
Burial has taken place in Memorial Cemetery near Carmen. The Celebration of Virginia's Life will be 10am, Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.
