Joyce Ann Williamsen, age 83, of Fremont, passed away at Nebraska Methodist in Omaha Nebraska on Dec 2, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Joyce was the only child of Alan and Sonya (Linden) Engdahl. She lived on the family farm in Oakland with her parents until she graduated from Uehling High School. Over the years Joyce worked many jobs including Kollmeyers, hospital kitchen, lunch cashier at Lincoln Elementary and Walmart in Fremont. She was a full time mother when her children were little and it was easily her favorite job.
Joyce married the love of her life, Larry Williamsen, right out of high school on Oct 11, 1958. They were married 60 years until Larry's passing in 2019. They made their homes in Uehling, Oakland and eventually settled Fremont in 1984. They had two sons Michael and David.
Joyce enjoyed animals and had a soft heart for animals of all kinds. She was proud cat mom to many cats and kittens over the years. Her father Alan gave her the love of fishing in Minnesota that she carried through life. She enjoyed decorating and making her home beautiful. She had an eye for finding beauty in things that others may not have found worthy or valuable.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her sons - Michael and wife Cassy Williamsen of Oakland NE, David and wife Stacey Williamsen of Arlington NE. Granddaughter - Ingrid Williamsen and fiancé Kelsey Lowther of Fremont NE and grandsons Grant and Jett Williamsen of Arlington NE. Skylar, her faithful kitty.
Closed casket visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel from 9am until 1pm. The family will be present from noon to 1pm. The funeral will be 1pm at the Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Gerber officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
