Eldon was born on April 7, 1937 to Edgar and Helen "Moeller" Schulenberg on a farm near Hooper. He grew up in the Scribner/Hooper area. Eldon attended District 16 grade school and graduated from Scribner High School in 1954, and then served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957. He had polio in High School and overcame many health issues over the years. Eldon farmed all his life until retirement in 2008 and then moved into Hooper in 2017. He worked for Hoegemeyer Hybrids and was a ringman for Marreel and Associates as well as Olson Pearson Auctioneers for many years. Eldon followed his kids and grandkids ballgames for many years including helping coach from time to time. He loved to play cards, fish, bowl, travel, and have coffee with the guys. Eldon never met a stranger and always shared his sense of humor with all.

After the closing of St. John's he was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Pohocco Lutheran Church. He married his high school sweetheart in 1959 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. "I didn't know Eldon personally but attended alot of Olson/Pearson auctions. He was always smiling and making jokes and was such fun as a ring man. The picture of him here is how I remember him, that great smile. I enjoyed him so much. I am so sorry to read of his passing and my deepest sympathy to his wife and family."
