Lorene was born June 17, 1924 and raised on a farm east of West Point, Nebraska where she attended District 45 Country School. After graduating from West Point public schools in 1942; Lorene was employed at the Mead, NE ordnance plant helping with the War effort. She continued her career selling dresses at Marsons Dress shop in Fremont, NE.
From there Lorene attended and graduated from Electronic Radio and Television Institute in Omaha, NE. Upon graduation Lorene moved to Miami Beach, FL where she was employed as a Telegraphic Typewriter Operator at the Air Tactical Command Headquarters.
Lorene married James H. Van Over and had three children who survive her. Her son James O. Van Over from San Bernadino, CA and daughters, Kathleen (Mrs. Robert Bennett) from Holland, MA and Melanie Van Over from Sarasota, FL She is also survived by her nine grand children, six great grand children and her Sister Loretta (Mrs. Ray Ruwe) of Fremont, NE.
After returning to Nebraska in 1956 Lorene attended the Cornhusker School of Cosmetology and graduated in 1958. After graduation she worked for Bahners Beauty Salon and Adonis salon. In 1968 Lorene opened her own business named the Beauti Studio Salon until retiring in 2004.
Lorene attended the Fremont Alliance Church where she was a member for many years. Lorene enjoyed many roles, from her first love of singing in the choir, to Awanas Club working with the Church Youth, to Evangelism Explosion, and the Joy Women's group, making quilts. Lorene accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1949 and loved and followed Him until she went home Monday, October 8th 2012.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, Mae and William Wickert, and her older sister Opal Malstead and brother's Virgil and Morrell Wickert.
The funeral will be Monday October 15, 11:00am at the Fremont Alliance Church. The Rev. Tom Nevius will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at West Point. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary chapel in Fremont will be Sunday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 5pm to 8pm. The family requests any memorials be sent to The Fremont Alliance Church designated for "Missions".
