Kay Frances Dvorak Karr Meier was born February 6th, 1938 in Atkinson, Nebraska to Frank W. Dvorak and Kathrine E. Richards. She passed away on October 6th, 2021 in Drippings Springs, Texas at the age of 83 years and 8 months.

Kay Dvorak attended Atkinson High School, after which she taught school locally and married to Rolland Karr in Atkinson, NE June 8th, 1958. They lived in California while Rolland was in the military and then returned to Nebraska ending up in Fremont. They raised two children Robert D. Karr and Susan Kay (Karr) Crosthwaite. She was a very busy, loving, caring wife and mother. She was dynamic supporter of her children's interests, hobbies, and activities. She was also very dedicated and active in the Eastern Star organization. As a grandmother and great grandmother, she was very proud of all her kids and enjoyed seeing them whenever she could. Rolland passed away March 30, 1988.

On May 2, 1998, Kay married Melvin Meier in Fremont, Nebraska where they called home for 20 years. Kay and Mel enjoyed dancing and traveling which they did extensively, to all 50 States, parts of Canada, Hawaii, and several European countries. As active members of their camping club, Kay and Mel enjoyed the open road and warm campfires with many friends and family. They found friends and fair weather in southern Texas where they spent the winters and ultimately moved to Edinburg full time in 2017. Mel passed on May 26th, 2018. Kay later moved to Dripping Springs to be closer to her brother in the spring of 2021.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Katherine Dvorak, husband Rolland Karr, son Robert Karr, husband Melvin Meier, and sister Gayle Taylor. She is survived by her brother Rich Dvorak of Dripping Springs, TX, daughter Susan Crossthwaite of Taylorsville, North Carolina, and her many grand kids, and great grandkids.

The family is planning to have a Celebration of Life in Fremont, Nebraska at a later date.
