Violet Mae Clayton was born August 12, 1929 in a covered wagon in Petersburg, Nebraska to Frank and Ella (Kerrl) Clayton. She moved with her family to Albion, and then at 6 years of age in 1936, her family moved to Fremont. She was student at the former Garden City School (district #4) on East Military Street.
Following the death of her mother, Violet left school and began working, first in the pricing department of the F.W. Woolworth Store in downtown Fremont, then the Pathfinder Hotel. She began employment with Campbell Soup Co. in October of 1956, holding a variety of jobs, until she retired from the quality control department in August of 1989 after 33 years with the company. In her retirement years, she worked as a housekeeper at Arbor Manor during the years of 1994 - 1996. Violet was a member of the Salvation Army Church.
On February 9, 1954, Violet was married to Oakley Cain in Papillion, Nebraska, and he died on February 5, 1980. She was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors: 2 daughters - Rhonda and husband Larry Eichner of Estacada, Oregon
Sharon and husband Terry Yates of Cedar Bluffs
step-son - Markel and wife Kathleen Cain of Soap Lake, Washington

The funeral service will be 10 AM Saturday (Aug. 13th) in the Salvation Army Church (Military & 'I') with Envoy Tim North officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may directed to the family for distribution.
The visitation will be at the Salvation Army Church only, on Saturday morning for an hour before the service.
Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, is handling the arrangements.
