Ardis Heine, 68, former Clinical Social Worker with Fresno County Children's Mental Health, died August 24, 2010 in Fresno, CA of complications from ovarian cancer.
Born in Columbus Nebraska to Arthur and Marie (Hassebrook) Feye on October 22, 1942, Ardis earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and English from Midland University in Fremont and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver. She began her career as a Social Worker with Lutheran Social Services in Omaha Nebraska. She married former Fremont resident Lyman H. Heine, Jr. in 1966 and in 1968 they moved to Fresno California when Lyman accepted a position at Fresno State University. Ardis first worked in adoption services for Lutheran Social Services of Fresno. In 1974, she took a position with Fresno County Children's Mental Health as a Clinical Social Worker where she worked for 30 years. She retired from that position in 2004 and began a private practice until 2010. She was passionate about her work. Her empathy and kindness helped change the lives not only her clients, but also for many of her colleagues whom she mentored. She was a member of the Society of Clinic Social Workers and the National Association of Social Workers.
Ardis loved travel and enjoyed accompanying her husband Lyman during his many London semester trips with students, and when his career took him to Uppsala Sweden and Taiwan. She loved reading, working crossword puzzles, cooking, needle work, weaving, playing the piano, organ and recorder and spending time with her many wonderful friends. Ardis was preceded in death by her father, Arthur W. Feye and her much beloved husband, Lyman. She is survived by her 95 year old mother, Marie H. Feye of Columbus Nebraska; her sister Janice and her husband Hercules Stukas of Bloomington Minnesota; brother-in-law Edward Heine and his wife Monika of Munich Germany; nephews Nickolas Stukas and his wife Anne of London England and Benjamin Heine of Berlin Germany.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus Nebraska. A private interment will be held in Hooper Nebraska. The family requests that memorials be made to a charity in lieu of flowers.
