Maxine was born on September 18, 1914 in Fremont to George and Georgia (Milgrim) Herre. She grew up in Fremont graduating from Fremont High School in 1931. On August 7, 1935, Maxine was married to Hans N. Nielsen and they farmed east of Fremont until retiring.
Maxine was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and a charter member and past president of the United Methodist Women. She was a charter member of the Five - O extension club.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hans, in June of 1995, also by a grandson and a great grandson, and by 2 sisters.
Survivors: son - Jerry and wife Judy Nielsen of Fremont
2 daughters - Barbara and husband Bill Schroedter of West Point
Carol and husband Loren Kastanek of Omaha

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday (Sept. 13, 2011) in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael McGregor officiating. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice or the donor's choice.
Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont, will be on Monday (Sept. 12th) from 2 to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM.
