Alfred was born January 15, 1922 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Alfred E. and Antonio (Boerst) Kleinschmidt. He was raised in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and attended Washington Grade School, Wauwatosa Junior and Senior High Schools, graduating in January of 1940. He attended business school and then worked at Delta Tools, then Stoker Unit until he was drafted into military service in September of 1942. His duty stations were in Mississippi and Texas before going overseas with the 30th Infantry Division. After the war he was transferred to the Military Government, serving in Frankfurt and Berlin.
In 1946, he returned to the United States and attended the University of Wisconsin. In January of 1947, he married Elise Lusch. To this union were born three children; Julie, Susan, and William. After graduating from college in 1950, he worked in Milwaukee for AC Spark Plugs, a division of General Motors. He was transferred to Goleta, California in 1972. His wife, Elise passed away in July of 1977. He retired from General Motors in October of 1980.
On April 5, 1986, Alfred was united in marriage to Adena (Walther) Sandin. They moved to Fremont, Nebraska where they have resided since. The Kleinschmidts are member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruth Riek and Lois Meinel, sister-in-law - Ann Wittmann, 2 brothers-in-law Don and Ray Walther.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday (Oct. 25th) in Fremont at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church (430 N. Cedar St.) with the Rev. Steve Helwig officiating. Further services will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with the interment in Graceland Cemetery, 6401 N. 43 St., Milwaukee. Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Ev. Lutheran High School in Waco, NE or to the donor's choice.
There is no public visitation in Fremont. Ludvigsen Mortuary, Fremont is in charge of the arrangements.
