Lois I.Meyer

"1974-1976 I was in the 2-year secretarial program offered by the College of Business. I had Miss Meyer for a couple of classes, one of which was shorthand. I vividly remember Miss Meyer dictating, the class feverishly keeping up in shorthand...and then the train (tracks being 1/4 mile from the Johnson Building), rumbling past. She would always keep right on dictating, even though we were reading her lips by that time! Too funny. In 1976, I was hired by the College of Business as a secretary (guess the shorthand class paid off). Miss Meyer was very proper and business-like, but always kind to me, the new hire. I lost my dad and a favorite aunt to Alzheimer's. My solace is that all of the "Alzheimer" people that have passed are whole again. --Ann McCleery"

"We loved Aunt Lois as a second mother. We brought her to Omaha in 2001 when she realized she had Alzheimer's. She stayed at the Parson's House for over 10 years and came to be loved by her PH family too! She was so sweet, kind and always appreciative. Clear to the end, she was still saying "Thank you for all you do for me, Nancy!" We will miss her. But I'm sure glad we had her here in Omaha-she got in on a lot of family gatherings!"
