Mildred 'Millie' Meyer passed to Eternal Rest on September 30, just two weeks after celebrating her 102nd birthday.

She was born September 16, 1916 in Aledo, Illinois to Carl and Mabel Anderson Clauson. Millie graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois in 1938 with a degree in Education. While attending summer classes in Iowa City, Iowa she met and later married the love of her life, Gerald W. 'Moose' Meyer, from Hooper, Nebraska. This union happily lasted 72 years until Gerry's death in 2013.

Millie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was also a loving and supportive aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed music and traveling. She was a wonderful cook and a fastidious homemaker. But most of all, she thrived in her support of her husband in his longstanding role as Fremont Senior High Principal. Millie was also devoted to her children and family and participated actively at Salem Lutheran Church, in PEO, AAUW, Faculty Wives and Questers' Club.

Millie rarely sought the limelight, but she was always there to bolster the efforts of those she loved. She was a true lady, in the very finest sense of that word. She had an elegant sense of propriety and kept her family on the right track - - most of the time. Any failings in that respect were unquestionable theirs and not hers. Although her husband Gerry was a figure of authority in the community, her family never had the slightest doubt as to Millie being the ultimate authority in the family. She had a firmness of conviction and sometimes an acerbic sense of humor, both of which were softened by her gentle and loving nature.

Millie is survived by her children: son Chris and wife Janet Jorgensen of Sarasota, Florida; son Dan and wife Debra of Manchester, Iowa; and daughter Ann and husband Lyle Woerth of Lincoln. Millie is also survived by her grandchildren: Kate Huckelbridge and husband Craig of Oakland, California; Stacy Meyer of Portland, Oregon; Jon Meyer and wife Jennifer of Cleveland, Ohio; Robert Meyer of Washington, DC; Emily Meyer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Scott Meyer of Chicago, Illinois; Karl Woerth of Omaha, and Chris Woerth of Lincoln. In addition, she is survived by great-grandchildren Jennah Meyer of Cleveland, Ohio; and Lila, Brynn and Haines Huckelbridge of Oakland, California.

Funeral services will be held at Salem Lutheran Church, Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10:00am.
