Jip was born November 6, 1924 on a farm south of Scribner to John and Lilly 'Hinrichsen' Schreck. He was raised in the Scribner area and graduated from Scribner High School in 1942. Jip was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1943 to 1946 spending part of that time in the Pacific Theater. After his military service ended he returned to Scribner. He married Jean Lohmeyer on May 26, 1946. Jip went to Midland Lutheran College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. After college Jip joined his father-in-law at Lohmeyer Plumbing in Scribner, he eventually bought out his father-in-law and ran the business until he retired, selling to his son-in-law.
After retirement Jip continued to work part time for his son-in-law. He also enjoyed building models, gardening and loved to cook.
Jip was a member of the Scribner American Legion Post 121 and St. Peter's Lutheran Church. He was a former Scribner City Councilman, former board member of the Scribner Housing Authority and former member of the Scribner Volunteer Fire Department.

Sally and husband Ken 'Lumpy' Thomas of Scribner
Son - Rob and wife Tina Schreck of Virginia Beach, VA.

Jip was preceded in death by his wife Jean in 1976, his parents, brother Paul and an infant brother.
The Memorial Service will be 2:00pm Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scribner. The Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. There is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or donor's choice. Military Honors will be provided at the church by the Scribner American Legion Post 121.
Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
