Carolyn Mae Bales, age 83, of Fremont
Died Sunday June 24, 2018 at The Heritage at Shalimar Gardens in Fremont
Carolyn was born December 17, 1934 in Fremont to Carl and Margaret 'Rasmussen' Andersen. She was raised in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School. She worked at various places including Northwestern Bell, Phillips Department Store, Larry Swanson Chevrolet, and Waste Management.
Carolyn married Joseph Bales on December 12, 1952 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Joe died December 20, 2010. Carolyn was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, VFW and American Legion Auxiliary and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
Survivors:
3 daughters – Patti Bales, Judi and husband Keith Main, and JoAnne Bales, all of Fremont
son – Joseph Bales of Grand Island
6 grandchildren – April (Russ) Leedom, Amber (Jamie) Potter, P.J. (Brittany) Crawford,
Aubrei (Jarred) Kucera, Maggie Sullivan, and Cassie Sullivan
8 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter
Sister - Donna (Craig) Klingenberg of Wood River
3 Brothers – Michael (Sue) Andersen of LaMars, IA.
David (Karen) Andersen of Charles City, IA.
Dennis (Carol) Andersen of Roswell, NM.

Carolyn was preceded in death, in addition to her husband Joe, by her parents, 2 sisters and a brother.
The funeral will be 10:30am Thursday at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont, burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the new Fremont Veterans Memorial Park (https://natlvtn.org/fremont-veterans-memorial-park/). Visitation will be Wednesday from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm, all at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.
