Joan Tooley was born October 18, 1927 In Minden, Nebraska to Leland and Lillian Tooley. After moving to Fremont from Hasting in early childhood, she attended St. Patrick's grade school and graduated from Fremont High School in 1945. Joan attended Mount St. Claire College and Midland College. She married Donald C. Watchorn on August 4, 1947. Don and Joan lived in Ponca, Schuyler and Omaha before returning to Fremont in 1971. She worked as a personal banker at Fremont National Bank and retired in 1992. Joan was a past president of Altrusa, a member of Chapter AJ PEO and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, younger brother John Richard "Jack" Tooley and sister-in-law Carolyn Lueschen Tooley
Joan is survived by her dear husband of sixty four years, Don, daughter Carolee Cronin, son in law Patrick Cronin, granddaughters Kelly Cronin, Mary Kate Cronin all of Fremont, Colleen Cronin Daum (Tanner) St. Louis Missouri, and Andrew Cronin (Trisha) and great-grandsons Deacon and Evan Cronin Olympia Washington.
The Funeral Mass will be 10am Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. Dave Belt will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Odyssey Hospice or the National Parkinson Foundation. Visitation at Ludvigsen Mortuary will be Sunday from 3pm to 8pm with the family present at 5pm. There will be a wake service open to the public beginning at 7pm. Visitation will continue 1 hour before the service at the church.
