John August Schafersman, age 83, of Hooper passed away Monday December 11, 2017 at Nebraska Medicine surrounded by his loving family.
John was born June 23, 1934 to Lester and Rosalie 'Pueppke' Schafersman and raised on the family farm. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 then returned to the farm where he lived his life. John married Eileen Spreen on February 1, 1964.

Tammie (Darius) Kruszczak of Omaha
Kermit (Jennifer) Schafersman of Arizona
Brian (Geryl) Schafersman of Kansas City, MO.
Sheldon (Kristie) Schafersman of Hooper
21 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews
Sister – Marion (Calvin) Moseman of Craig
Brother-in-law – Leon (Betty) Spreen of Hooper
John was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Lawrence and Gladys Spreen, twin brothers and sister Leola Schafersman.
There is no viewing, however the family will receive friends Sunday from 2pm to 4pm at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel. Further private services and burial at the Hooper Cemetery with Military Honors will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.
