William L. Kaufmann, 96, of Fremont
died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 in Nye Legacy, Fremont.
He was born January 23, 1921 on the family farm near Wolbach, NE to Jacob and Elizabeth (Mohr) Kaufmann. He was baptized February 5, 1921 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach and confirmed October 4, 1936 in St. Paul Lutheran Church near Monroe, NE. He grew up on the farm near St. Edward, NE.
He served in the US Army during the WW II years of 1945 and '46, then returned to farming with a brother. From 1956 to 1984, he lived in Omaha where he worked for the US Post Office for 28 years. He retired in 1984, and on April 28, 1984 he was married in Omaha to Dorothy Wipf Eisenhauer. They made their home in Fremont.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in May of this year, and also by his parents Jacob and Elizabeth,
4 brothers, Jake, Fred, Henry, and Adam, and 3 sisters, Lydia, Mary, and Emma.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 10:30 AM Monday (Nov. 27, 2014) at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fremont. Visitation will be on Sunday at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel from 2 to 5 PM. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to his church and the Lutheran Hour.
